Bondi Discloses Investigation into President's Adversaries and Epstein Ties

On Friday, Pam Bondi assigned interim US attorney Jay Clayton to lead an probe into opponents of the President and their relationships with the late financier. This move came just after Trump ordered her to launch the probe.

During an announcement, the Attorney General commended Clayton as “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country”. The official added, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”

This action seems to diverge from a July memo from justice department officials which declared that documents related to Epstein lacked grounds for additional investigations. As per the memo, authorities “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties”

Trump Demands Focus on Democrats in the Epstein Matter

The announcement comes as increasing pressure from the president on congressional Republicans to resist the public disclosure of files concerning Epstein before an upcoming House vote in the coming days. Several lawmakers are expected to back the release.

Newly public communications from Jeffrey Epstein have brought attention to Trump’s past involvement with the convicted criminal, revealing information that he was more aware of Epstein’s actions than earlier acknowledged.

That same day, the President announced he would ask the DOJ to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, specifically naming prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Interestingly, Trump also referred to the “Epstein situation” as a “scam”.
